Understanding the poem:
My first poem was based on the Evil Queen in Snow White. My goal of the poem was to call attention to something I thought needed it. I also portrayed the popular story of Snow White in a new way. I wrote this poem to show the idea that Snow White is the reason the queen became evil. To achieve this I research about why the queen was evil and I found out that she became evil when her mirror told her that Snow White was prettier then she was. This helped give me the idea that if Snow White wasn't in the picture the queen wouldn't have been evil. My second poem was based on sunsets. My goal was to portray sunsets in a new way and show what its like from a sunsets view. To achieve this I researched reasons why people watched sunset and put them into a poem.
My Persona Poems:
Persona Poem 1: Person
How I became this way From the evil queen in snow white I was on top till you came along Your beauty outshining mine I’ve seen the way you hold your head high With those seven little followers by your side Why do you need them? So you can have more power? You might be innocent on the outside But you’re not like that on the inside. Every day you send them to work As you sit home Cooking and cleaning so they will do what you want. Do you really care for them? You are just using them as a power source. They are the outlet to your plug I see your rose colored cheeks and your jet black hair Through my faithful mirror in my hand I ask it the same question everyday Mirror, Mirror, who is the fairest in the land? And every day I get the same response, “it is not you” I was never this way; believe it or not I was nice before you came along and this is true Till your beautiful singing voice turned my life around It’s as if the tune of your singing controls them As if they are hypnotized And your voice is the trigger I have never controlled anyone in an evil way The things I do are for my people and Now I need to get rid of you before it becomes too late This way I can be me again And hear “you are the fairest of them all.” To be me, the one I truly was after all.

Persona Poem 2: Place or Thing
Change in color Based on sunsets I watch as people lay on a sandy beach to watch me My pink and orange fades behind the ocean Just like all their worries do I watch the girl with light brown freckles on her face Forget the heartbreak Of seeing her true love with another girl As her last tear rolls down her cheek I watch the old man Holding a faded red rose Looking past me to the heavens Whimpering words to me Just like their worries I can appear at any point throughout the day I can go away as quick as quicksand Or fade away lightly I’m that light that shines before things go dark And even though I don’t last forever I’ll be back the next day to make it all better When I return and see my reflection In your clear eyes I realize that the worries have subsided So as things begin to get dark just remember one thing I will return and don’t you forget it.
